Book Reviews

If you have been following me on Instagram you may have noticed some of my posts feature books that I am currently reading. My human loves to read and has been reading since she was little. I think that everyone should make reading their hobby. I want to share my favorite books and give a short review for each book. My book reviews for this month will be for The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, The Martian by Andy Weir and And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

5 out of 5 stars

"In love we find out who we want to be. In war we find out who we are."

This is a story about 2 sisters Vianne and Isabelle and the role they play during WWII in France, 1939. This is a story about survival, love, perseverance and rebuilding the lives that will forever be changed because of the war. Historical fiction is a genre that I am not too familiar with when it comes to reading books but I really love this book and will recommend it to anyone. A lot of people got emotional reading this book and I can definitely relate with the other readers. This has a 4.54 rating on Goodreads with over 50,000 ratings. You need to add this on your book list and start reading it when you can.

The Martian by Andy Weir

4 out of 5 stars

"Every human has a basic instinct to help each other out."

This is a fiction story about Mark Watney's survival on Mars. It was a slow read at first but gets better after Chapter 6. Some people might find the book a little technical and the character talks scientifically about hydrogen, oxygen, botany, etc during the first few chapter. Regardless I find that this book is a page turner and the character has a great sense of humor. The movie is coming out featuring Matt Damon and I will definitely watch it.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

4 out of 5 stars

I cannot believe that this book was originally titled as "Ten Little Niggers" then they changed it to "Ten Little Indians" and now it's "And Then There Were None". This book is about 10 strangers brought together to a mysterious island and then get killed one by one mysteriously. I love mystery novels and this book kept me guessing all the way through the end. This is the first Agatha Christie book I have read and I am intrigued and cannot wait to read more of her books.

All of the books featured are firsts for me, first historical fiction, first science fiction and first Agatha Christie novel. I hope you all like my short book reviews and if you have any suggestions and recommendations for what book to read or review next please let me know.
